Anatolian vocals and sitar serenades

Lopa Kothari presents folk and roots-based music from around the world, with tracks from Turkish-Danish vocalist Hilal Kaya and Leeds-born sitar virtuoso Jasdeep Singh Degun.

Lopa Kothari presents the latest in her ongoing explorations of global folk and roots-based music. Traditional Anatolian sounds are reimagined with a modern, free-spirited approach on the debut album from Turkish-Danish vocalist and songwriter Hilal Kaya, while Hungarian folk band Erdőfű, Polish rural traditionalists Kompania Prusinowski, and singer Melinda Balogh come together for a transnational project exploring cultural meeting points in Eastern Europe. Plus, a track from Leeds-born sitar virtuoso Jasdeep Singh Degun ahead of his performance at this year’s Darbar Festival.
