Sardinian song and vintage Cambodian shellac

Kathryn Tickell shares fresh finds from across the world of folk and roots-based music, including iconic ‘cantu a chiterra’ vocalist Maria Teresa Pirrigheddu, drawing on the singing traditions of northern Sardinia in collaboration with composer Vieri Mura. Plus, vintage sounds from 1980s Nigeria and an almost-forgotten example of early 20th-century Khmer music from a new collection of classical and popular styles, recently restored from the original shellac.
