Lopa Kothari presents the best in folk and roots-based music from around the world, including a live session from Belarusian-Polish band Hajda Banda.
Lopa Kothari presents the best in folk and roots-based music from around the world, including a live session from Belarusian-Polish band Hajda Banda. The group draws on traditional dances and songs from eastern Poland’s Podlasie region, western Belarus and the wetlands of Polesye, a cultural crossroads on the Polish-Ukrainian-Belarusian border. Performing on acoustic village instruments including violin, hammered dulcimer, three-row Polish accordion and frame drum, they bring their own distinct style to the rural music of the borderlands.
Elsewhere in the show, rhythmic xylophone music from Mozambique’s Timbila Ta Venâncio, and a collaboration between Simangavole and Soa Ravelo, working together to amplify the voices of women from the Indian Ocean.
