Tanzania has begun 14 days of national mourning for President John Magufuli, after his death was announced by vice president Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday evening.
Opposition leader Tundu Lissu, who competed against John Magufuli in last year’s presidential election, tells Focus on Africa, “my first reaction was one of huge relief”, but called President Magufuli’s death “very sad”.
