Reports and analysis of the day's political, economic and sports news from across Africa.

Several African heads of state have been present amidst thousands of mourners paying tribute to former Tanzanian president John Magufuli at his official state funeral in the capital Dodoma. Mr Magufuli died last week at the age of 61, following heart complications.

Plus, Niger celebrates its first peaceful transfer of power, with election winner Mohamed Bazoum taking over from outgoing leader Mahamadou Issoufou. Much of the country is far from peaceful, however, with 22 murdered in the latest massacre this weekend.
