Muslim cleric shot dead after Uganda bombings

Security operations have been launched since the explosions in the heart of Kampala.

Sheikh Muhammad Abas Kirevu was killed by security forces, who said he had been working with jihadists. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed into law a new refugee bill that allows asylum seekers easier access to education, and opportunities to integrate and earn a living. The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has condemned the violence against pro-democracy protesters in Sudan and reiterated a call for the ousted prime minister, Abdalla Hamdok, to be reinstated.
