Picture postcard

Postcards have always symbolised more than just a holiday greeting: they have documented much of the history of the 20th Century. Now the Bodleian Library has published two books of postcards- one of images from World War I and one of the Russian Revolution. More information at www.bodleianbookshop.co.uk

During the Russian Civil War, there was widespread famine. As early as 1919, the Americans offered assistance. The Friends of Soviet Russia produced this card.
