Cooing together

When your baby coos, gurgles or makes sounds, they're taking their first steps towards communication.

Responding to these sounds helps your baby learn that conversations are a two-way process.

Try listening carefully to your baby and taking turns with them. Pause before responding and use clear, simple sounds to encourage them to join in.

These playful back-and-forth interactions can help your baby learn how to imitate language and develop early communication skills.

Cooing together is also a lovely way to bond with your baby. By listening and responding, you're showing them that their sounds matter, helping them feel connected and confident as they learn to communicate.

Every coo and response helps build the foundations for language development.
