1990: Record Temperatures in heat wave
The UK experiences its highest recorded temperature on 3 August 1990.
A Leicester weather station recorded a temperature of 37°C in Cheltenham, one degree higher than the previous record in 1911.
The UK has had multiple heat waves since, with a temperature of 40.3°C recorded in 2022.
