A graphic detailing the potential financial impact of Manchester City's spending on other English clubs

Imagine a world where Manchester City had not used "sham contracts" to build a team capable of winning three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three EFL Cups.

If City were the winners, then there had to be losers - and not just those teams who finished runners-up or lost cup finals.

The potential impact runs much deeper and includes missed Champions League qualification, relegation and Premier League prize money.

Thirty-five other teams played in the English top flight between 2009 and 2018.

And every one could in some way claim to have been left financially out of pocket.

  2. Glasner reflects on Selhurst receptionpublished at 19:04 BST 12 October

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner has thanked both his own fans and supporters of Crystal Palace for the reception and support he was given on his Selhurst Park return on Sunday, and welcomed an emerging rivalry between the two clubs.

Glasner guided Palace to three trophies, the first major silverware in the club's history, in just over two years before joining Forest in July.

It was a controversial move, especially after Forest replaced the Eagles in the Europa League after their demotion to the Conference League before the 2025-26 season and their owner Evangelos Marinakis' involvement in subsequent legal proceedings.

Asked if he thought the friction between the two sets of supporters might endure, Glasner said: "I don't know. At the end, it's what we all want, when there is a rivalry between fans.

"I think everything, also today, is how we wanted. Both supporters, both sides, supported their team with a lot of energy, a lot of power.

"There was maybe a few (negative ones) but I didn't hear it, no negativity against the opposition, and it was really supporting my team, and this is how we want football at the end.

"As a manager, and I am now in football for many years, I haven't experienced that, (being) supported from both sides, so a really huge thank you."

  3. 'I thought I'd take the mickey out of them'published at 14:27 BST 12 October

"As I sauntered off thinking 'who's going to come on to replace me'... nobody came."

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Steve Hodge has been recalling the day Brian Clough subbed him off and brought nobody on to replace him.

Forest were leading 3-0 after 85 minutes of their FA Cup third-round replay against Crystal Palace in 1991.

"He pulled me on the Friday after a meeting and just said: 'Look, I wasn't having a go at you on Wednesday night when I brought you off and brought nobody on. I don't like Palace - you know I don't, son, and I thought I'd take the mickey out of them and embarrass them for a bit, so that's why I did it,'" Hodge told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"He was a bit different - and he held a grudge."
