BURNOUT

Burnout is a medical term used to diagnose chronic work-related stress. It occurs when the demands put on a person far exceed their ability to cope. So, if you complain of exhaustion, headaches, memory loss, increased alcohol consumption and inability to relate to other people - then you suffer from burnout.

Stressed at work? Feeling like you can't cope? Don't worry; beating burnout is not that difficult. Here are some tips. Work smarter, not harder. Take breaks. Don't work at 100 per cent, downshift to 60 per cent. Don't write huge 'to-do' lists. Pick a few tasks and tick them off. Don't isolate yourself - delegate. Keep a stress diary and hmm… yes… if you feel you can't cope - talk to your boss. He'll help you.
