SPIN DOCTORS A spin doctor briefs the media on behalf of government and politicians. As well as giving the media the facts, a spin doctor also tries to make sure that those facts are presented in a favourable way. For example, if the income tax has increased by 1%, a spin doctor might try to present this in a positive way, by saying: The government now has more money to spend on public services. A spin doctor is a political pundit employed by the government to give favourable interpretation to political developments. BBC interview: We will be judged by the public and not by what spin doctors say to journalists in the back of a pub, but on the basis of what we do for the health service, for the education service, for the economy and people's prospects for jobs.
