'Connectivity issue' affects 190 Santander bikes
BBCAlmost 200 of the 800 Santander Cycle scheme docking stations are out of service due to what Transport for London (TfL) described as a "connectivity issue".
The docking stations affected are across the city, from Aldgate to Knightsbridge and from Elephant and Castle to Camden.
TfL has listed the out of service docking stations on its website.
A spokesperson for the transport body said: "We are working at pace to fix the problem and once resolved we will review all affected hires and automatically refund any incorrect charges."
Transport for LondonTfL said 190 docking stations are currently affected, resulting in journeys not ending correctly, reduced from 251 earlier today.
Users with a physical key are still able to hire bikes.
The spokesperson said: "We're very sorry for the disruption caused to some Santander Cycles customers following a technical issue.
"This may have resulted in some journeys not ending correctly and additional charges being applied."
The public bicycle hire scheme has been operating in London for more than 15 years, officially launching in July 2010.
Originally sponsored by Barclays it was rebranded to Santander Cycles when Santander took over as the sponsor in 2015.
