A fire has badly damaged 44 acres (18ha) of crops, hay bales and stubble after a combine harvester caught alight.

Crews spent more than 14 hours at the scene in Langford Road, Wickham Bishops, after first being called at 04:39 BST on Tuesday.

They managed to stop the fire from spreading to nearby properties, Essex Fire and Rescue Service said.

The incident - which was attended by eight crews and a water bowser, off-road vehicle and drone team at its height - was ended shortly after 19:00.
