Body found in search for missing 80-year-old

Police searching for a missing 80-year-old man have found a body.

The discovery was made near to Trimley St Martin, in Suffolk, on Saturday morning.

Formal identification had not yet taken place, but the family of Alan Wilson, who had been missing from the Felixstowe area since Monday, had been informed, police said.

The force said the death was being treated as unexplained but there were not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Wilson left the Rogers Close area of Felixstowe on foot just before 16:15 BST on Monday and was last seen on the same day at 17:38 in nearby Trimley St Martin.

Suffolk Police, HM Coastguard, the National Police Air Service and volunteers from Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue had been involved in the search for him, joined by more than 100 residents from the local area.
