Police want to speak to anyone who gave life support to a man who was seriously assaulted at a bar and later died.

Matthew O'Gara, 31, was taken to hospital after being hurt at Ricco and Loren bar in Lichfield on Sunday 24 May. He died two days later.

Billy Allison, 36, from Solihull, has been charged with murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, and is due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on 1 September.

Staffordshire Police has issued a fresh appeal for people with information to come forward, stating it was aware of reports that O'Gara had received CPR from the public.

His family continued to be supported by specialist officers, the force said.

A police spokesperson added: "We would urge anyone who has any information which might help our investigation to contact us.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who gave Matt advanced life support."
