A development of 32 homes could soon be built as part of an "urban village" scheme that has been under way for more than a decade.

The Canal Road Urban Village scheme, also known as New Bolton Woods, has seen hundreds of homes built between Bradford and Shipley, with other sites earmarked for further development.

In 2016, Bradford Council approved an outline application for the plan, which was developed by Canal Road Urban Village Ltd – a joint venture between the council and Urbo Regeneration.

The planning application for the additional 32 homes in Shipley has been submitted by Keepmoat Homes and Canal Road Urban Village Limited.

The original Canal Road Urban Village scheme was designed as a "residential-led, mixed-use development" with a primary school, nursery, health centre, petrol station and sports facilities.

As well as the houses, an Aldi and a drive-through Costa have been built, but there is yet to be any movement on the social facilities, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The latest application includes plans for eight two-bed homes, 19 three-bed homes and five four-bed homes on a green space between Canal Road/Valley Road and Poplar Crescent.

The site currently consists of "green open space and a paved cycleway", according to the application.

A decision is expected in November.
