Loganair confirms withdrawal of all Dundee operations

Loganair has confirmed it is withdrawing all of its operations from Dundee Airport.

It comes after the airline announced it would end its service from Dundee to London Heathrow on 23 October.

The public service obligation (PSO) route is supported by the local authority and the Scottish and UK governments.

Loganair said the contract was "financially unsustainable" and it would support its Dundee-based employees to explore alternative roles. The closure of its operating base in Dundee will impact air travel to Orkney and Shetland.

The Dundee to London Heathrow service currently runs twice a day during the week and once on Sundays.

A PSO has operated since 2014 to maintain the air route between Dundee and London.

The firm originally said that the service would end on 28 September, but has now confirmed the new date.
