A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Blackpool.

It happened at about 15:15 on Monday in the Exchange Street and Cocker Street areas of the town, Lancashire Police said.

Following an "altercation" involving three men, one of them, aged in his 30s, was stabbed. He was taken to hospital for non life-threatening stab wounds, the force said.

Police, including armed officers, attended the scene and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.

Inquiries to locate and arrest a second suspect "are very much ongoing", police said.

Isolated incident

A spokesman said: "We know this may be concerning for the local community to hear about, but we want to reassure you that this is being treated as an isolated incident.

"Anyone with information CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage is asked to get in touch."
