Armed police arrest man over threats to woman

A man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, after police received reports of a woman being threatened.

Sussex Police were called to Clifton Road in Worthing at about 17:00 BST on Saturday, amid reports that the woman's car was also being damaged with objects.

Men left the area in a separate vehicle which was soon stopped by armed police officers in Woodside Road, the force said.

Sussex Police said a 29-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and criminal damage, remains in custody.
