Police stop driver with £1.5m of cocaine in car

A driver was found with cocaine with an estimated street value of more than £1.5m after being pulled over by police.

Officers taking part in an operation by Thames Valley Police's serious and organised crime unit stopped Adrian Adamowicz on Saturday afternoon on the southbound side of the A34 in Oxford and uncovered 21kg (3st 4lbs) of cocaine.

Adamowicz, 34, of Tunnel Hill, Worcester, was arrested and later charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug.

He appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody.

Adamowicz was also charged with acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third-party insurance.

His car was stopped by officers from the roads policing unit, with support from armed response and the dog section, police said.

Det Sgt James Faithfull, of specialist operations, described it as a "significant seizure".

Adamowicz will appear at Reading Crown Court on 21 September.
