Two people have been released without charge following a shooting.

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after police were called to reports of gunfire in St Paul's Street, Swindon, at about 21:00 BST on 19 June.

A 16-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation. Earlier, Wiltshire Police confirmed they had been released.

Two men charged with attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in connection with the incident are due to appear at Swindon Crown Court on 24 July.

The force said four other people were released on bail pending further investigation:

  • A 51-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
  • A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs
  • A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
  • A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder
