Racing over but road restrictions remain

The Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT racing have finished earlier than planned this year, due to anticipated poor weather on the Island by the end of the week.

But police say the road restrictions in place during the annual event will remain as originally scheduled.

As such, cycling will continue to be banned on the Mountain Road until 16:30 BST on Monday, 31 August.

"Do not end your visit with a fine, points, a night in a cell - or something far worse," the Isle of Man Constabulary has warned.

Police say traffic arrangements around the Mountain Road, which forms part of the famous 37.7mile (61 km) Isle of Man TT and Manx Grand Prix race course, remain exactly as originally outlined - despite the decision to bring the 10-race programme to its conclusion on Monday.

Cycling on the A18, between Ramsey hairpin and Creg-ny-Baa, remains prohibited, with signage in place along the route.

"Please follow the signs and instructions in place," police have urged. "They are there to protect you and others."

The Mountain Road remains open to two-way traffic - with temporary speed restrictions around the course still in force, and the Roads Policing Unit continuing to patrol the Island in both marked and unmarked vehicles until 31 August.

Visitors, particularly those travelling from mainland Europe, are also reminded that the Isle of Man drives on the left.
