A public consultation has been launched to help determine whether a park and ride facility should be created in Inverness.

Highland Council suggests it could be used by people travelling by bus or coach to Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It is part of the local authority's wider Travel Hubs Project looking at how different types of transport could be connected more effectively.

The online survey is open to anyone who travels between the Highlands and the central Scotland, and will run until midnight on 31 July.

The idea for a park and ride facility was raised at an Inverness Bus Station and Inverness Interchange consultation event held in March.

Ken Gowans, chairman of Highland Council's economy and infrastructure committee, said people wanted to see better options for connecting with longer-distance services.

He said: "In response to that feedback, we are now asking people to tell us how they currently travel between the Highland area and the Central Belt."
