Parts of a town centre have been cordoned off after two men were injured in assaults.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said officers were called to Castle Street in Reading, Berkshire, at about 22:50 BST on Tuesday and both men remain in hospital after the attacks.

Part of Castle Street and an area in Hosier Street were taped off into Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesperson said two people have been arrested and that the force believes there is no other threat of harm to the wider public.

"We would ask the public to please avoid the area at this time, if possible.

"If you have any concerns please speak with a uniformed officer," they added.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or make an online report on TVP's website.
