Green Flag award for Humber Bridge viewing park

Barton-upon-Humber has secured its second Green Flag award, with the town's Humber Bridge Viewing Area recognised.

The site joins Baysgarth Park in the Keep Britain Tidy scheme, which recognises parks and green spaces which are exceptionally well maintained, clean and safe.

Five sites across North Lincolnshire are on the list this year, with Central Park, Jubilee Park and Woodlands Memorial Gardens also designated.

North Lincolnshire Council leader Rob Waltham said: "For Barton to have two Green Flag parks is something the town can be incredibly proud of."

Sites have to reapply annually to retain their status.

The council said the bridge site had become one of North Lincolnshire's most popular visitor attractions, with walking routes, picnic areas and panoramic views across the Humber Estuary.

Waltham said: "These awards don't happen by accident.

"They reflect years of investment by the council, the hard work of our parks teams and the commitment of local volunteers who help care for these special places."
