A one-way system on the Isle of Man's Mountain Road to reduce accidents on open roads during the TT festival will come into force on 22 May.

The A18 will be closed at 09:30 BST for the set-up of the traffic cones along the route and the uncovering of signage before reopening at 16:30 with the one-way system in place.

Under the restrictions, traffic flow will only be allowed in the direction of the course between Ramsey and the Creg Ny Baa.

The road will remain subject to those restrictions until 16:30 BST on 9 June, when it reopens following signage removal.

Signage and cones will be put in place on 22 May ahead of the road reopening under its "one-way" rules during TT

The system was first introduced by the government on the Mountain Road during the TT races at the centenary of the event in 2007 to reduce the number of head-on collisions.

The 2026 event, which is expected to attract thousands of motorcycle fans to the island, runs between 25 May and 6 June.
