Rock City reopens after fire during maintenance work
BBCRock City has said it will reopen after a small fire during planned maintenance works.
The famous music venue and nightclub in Nottingham said the blaze broke out in part of a ventilation unit as part of an upgrade to its air handling system on Thursday morning.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the fire in the roof of the venue in Talbot Street at 08:41 BST.
The venue said on Thursday afternoon it had been cleared as safe to reopen and that its club night would go ahead as normal, but it added due to the disruption, the planned gig by folk group The Longest Johns this evening would be postponed.
In a statement, Rock City said the small fire caused smoke in the ceiling space.
A spokesperson said: "Everyone on-site was safely evacuated, the situation was quickly brought under control, and checks have now been completed.
"We're pleased to say the impact was limited and the venue is safe to reopen."

Since opening in 1980, Rock City has become one of the UK's most well-known live music venues.
Acts who have performed there over the past four decades include Nirvana, David Bowie, Public Enemy, Guns N' Roses and Oasis.
