A city centre Post Office is looking for a new location after the shop it operates from announced it was closing.

TGJones, in the Prospect Centre, Hull, announced earlier that it would be closing as part of a national restructuring plan.

The Post Office has a branch within the store and confirmed it would cease trading on 11 July.

A spokesperson said it would look to relocate elsewhere in the city and would "welcome interest from retailers looking to host a Post Office branch".

They added: "Once we have closed the application process we'll be in a better position to let the local community to know when any replacement Post Office is likely to open."

TGJones confirmed the Hull store is one of 150 sites that would close as part of a plan to turnaround the company.

The company said the decision had "not been taken lightly" but blamed challenging retail conditions for the need to close stores.

"We are working hard to support colleagues that will be affected by this," a spokesperson said.

The WHSmith high street bookshops were purchased by Modella Capital in March 2025, and the stores were then rebranded under the name TGJones.

The company also confirmed it has no plans to close its stores in Beverley, Driffield, Lincoln, Louth, Scunthorpe, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford.
