Flights cancelled in ongoing industrial action
Getty ImagesFlights have been cancelled at a city airport while it is closed to air traffic as part of ongoing industrial action.
Air traffic control members in the Prospect union at Norwich Airport voted in favour of action from 17 August in relation to pay and conditions, which has seen staff working strictly to contracted hours.
Customers had already been advised to check with their airline ahead of flying, however, on Thursday the airport said the site would be closed to air traffic between 08:00 and 13:00 BST on Friday.
A spokesperson for the airport apologised for any convenience, adding: "Discussions with Prospect are continuing and we remain committed to resolving the dispute."
A number of flights have already been cancelled at the airport including KLM flights between Norwich and Amsterdam and Loganair flights between Norwich and Aberdeen.
A spokesperson for the airport confirmed all other flights were expected to operate as scheduled and that airfield operations and flights would resume after 13:00.
It said: "Airlines have been informed of the closure. Passengers should check with their airline for the latest information about their flight before travelling to the airport."

Staff involved in the industrial action are working strictly to contracted hours and refusing to work overtime, swap shifts or work on a goodwill basis.
Prospect claimed staff were being paid "significantly less" and demanded they be given a 10% pay rise to bring them in line with the UK market rate.
Members are also demanding improved maternity and paternity leave.
Air traffic control members had already voted for 24-hour strike action on Friday 28 August.
Norwich Airport has now confirmed that strike means all flights scheduled for 28 August will not operate as it will be closed to air traffic.
Advising passengers who had been planning to fly on that day to check with their airlines, a spokesperson added: "We apologise for the disruption and inconvenience this will cause to passengers.
"We remain firmly committed to resolving this dispute through constructive dialogue and will continue to engage with Prospect with the aim of reaching agreement."
