Man arrested over hospital patient sexual assault

A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female patient inside a hospital.

Police said the patient was attacked just before 04:00 BST on Friday at Whiston Hospital, in Prescot, Merseyside.

The force said the arrested Liverpool man is being held in custody.

A yellow police van was seen parked at the hospital for much of the day on Friday.
