A man has been jailed for 17 years for raping a girl.

Daryl Shakespeare, of Tuffley in Gloucester, was sentenced on Friday after being convicted of three counts of raping a girl under 13, sexual activity with a child under 13, indecent assault, inciting sexual activity and a communication offence.

A jury found the 48-year-old guilty of the offences on 20 April. Shakespeare was found not guilty of one count of rape of a child and one count of assault of a child by penetration.

He was given a 20-year sexual harm prevention order at Gloucester Crown Court and will be placed on the sex offenders register for life.
