Police stop overloaded car with pink unicorn on roof
Essex PolicePolice had to step in to stop a car leaving a boot sale with a "roof load stacked unimpressively high".
The driver had piled up the goods high on top of the roof, including a cuddly pink unicorn.
Essex Police did not reveal the exact location of the car within the county, but have reminded people of the dangers of overloading vehicles.
A spokesperson said: "All vehicles are designed to carry only a specific weight. Exceeding this limit can significantly affect how a car handles, brakes and responds in an emergency."
Essex PoliceThe spokesperson added: "After a successful car boot sale trip, it can be tempting to squeeze everything in at once.
"While it may be tempting to fit everything in one trip, safety should always come first. If it looks like too much, it probably is."
The force said overloaded vehicles can take much longer to stop, be harder to steer, "especially at speed or on bends", with an increased risk of items coming loose and falling into the road.
