Trackside fire blocks railway line
GoogleA fire next to a railway track in the West Midlands blocked the line between Birmingham International and Coventry, causing major disruption for passengers.
West Midlands Fire Service said they were called to Hummingbird Avenue in Coventry shortly after 16:00 BST on Monday, where there was a fire affecting grass and scrubland near the railway line.
Passengers travelling between Coventry and Birmingham International faced services that were cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 40 minutes.
Fire crews damped down the area and left the scene at 20:18.
Avanti West Coast services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central and London Euston, plus CrossCountry services between Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth were affected.
London Northwestern routes between Birmingham New Street and Milton Keynes Central and London Euston were also disrupted.
