A man has died after a crash closed part of the A14 in both directions.

Suffolk Police was called just before 02:30 BST to the stretch of dual carriageway at Bury St Edmunds between junction 43 and 44 after reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

A spokesperson for the force said a man, aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene and officers were appealing for information.

One lane was opened westbound at 09:10, while Suffolk Police confirmed on social media at 21:30 that the eastbound side had fully opened, and thanked drivers for their patience.
