Police wish to speak to this man following a serious assault in Gloucester

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a city centre attack, police say.

Officers were called to Eastgate Street in Gloucester at about 03:40 BST on Thursday after it was reported a man had assaulted someone.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Gloucestershire Constabulary has released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following the incident and has asked anyone who recognises him to get in touch.

A forensic examination of the scene was carried out on Thursday and officers have conducted a number of enquiries, including a review of CCTV footage.

The man was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a grey beanie hat. He also had a bike with him, police said.
