Thousands of people are expected in Bridlington on Sunday for the return of a vintage festival.

Set among the historic streets of the Old Town, there will be period music and entertainment, food and a best dressed competition.

The mayor of Bridlington said the area is of "outstanding historic interest" but people forget it is there.

The free event, put on by voluntary group Regeneration of Bridlington Old Town (ROBOT) and the town council, runs from 10:30 to 16:30 BST.

Bridlington mayor Mike Heslop-Mullens said: "[The Old Town] has become a centre, a destination in its own right for many years, but people still forget it's there, especially tourists don't realize it's there, and events like this make people more aware of what's available".

The event will be officially opened by Jack Marriner-Brown, TV and radio personality and star of the TV show Traitors.

Vicky Barton, chair of ROBOT, said: "In conjunction with Bridlington Town Council, who have generously supported the event, we are hoping for bumper crowds."

Organisers said people could dress in whatever fashion era but prizes were being handed out for Queen of the Blitz, home guard hero, young cadet and victory sweetheart.
