Will Young set to make garden show debut

Will Young is set to make his garden design debut at this year's Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Wisley Flower Show.

The Evergreen singer has collaborated with designer Jamie Butterworth to create an installation, titled Out of the Shadows.

The RHS says the piece "interprets psychologist Carl Jung's concept of the 'shadow self', the parts of ourselves we keep hidden from the world".

"Through planting, the garden explores the journey from introspection and isolation to openness and the embrace of possibility", it added.

Young said he was "delighted to be able to bring [his research into Jungian shadow work] to life".

"I hope it encourages people to see how density and shade can be beautiful and as a metaphor, invites them to look into their own psyche as beauty often hides in the dark," he added.

This year's RHS Wisley Flower Show is set to feature other late summer displays, award-winning specialist nurseries, shopping opportunities and expert talks.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a "kaleidoscope of thousands of colourful dahlias of different shapes and sizes", says the RHS.
