A football club has offered free mental health and suicide awareness training to its local community.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have invited fans and people from across the city to take part in the session which aims to provide practical skills on how to help someone who may be experiencing emotional distress.

As part of its 'Ow Am Ya?' campaign, the club has teamed up with Samaritans and Wolves Foundation to offer the training.

It will take place on 10 September at the Molineux Stadium.

During the session, attendees will be taught how to have supportive conversations about mental health and suicide, the importance of active listening and ways to signpost people in distress to appropriate resources.

A spokesperson for the club said: "Together, we can continue to break down stigma, encourage conversations and help create a culture where people feel able to ask for help."

If you, or someone you know, has been affected by mental health, then support and information is available at BBC Action Line.
