Heavy rain hit Carlisle on Saturday

City centre businesses have been impacted after a deluge of flash floods.

Restaurant Michelangelo's in Carlisle said it would be shut until further notice while it assessed the damage caused by heavy rain on Saturday.

Indoor skate park Project One is also shut with staff reporting most things had dried out, but there was "still loads of water trapped under some of the ramps".

Carlisle Market Hall was also hit by the downpours. One trader, the Hobby Hoader said on social media it was "grateful" to customers and the other traders for helping divert water from its stall.

Carlisle Cathedral Cafe was also flooded but said it had been able to start serving customers after a one-hour delay.

Warhammer Carlisle said it was open for business on Sunday and the rain may have helped wash out some of its drenched carpet's "wayward paint stains".
