Part of the A1 near Peterborough was shut following a lorry fire.

Crews from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 07:00 BST to the southbound carriageway between Carpenters Lodge and Wittering.

The road was then closed in both directions due to smoke affecting the northbound carriageway.

Fire services said one lane of the northbound carriageway has since re-opened, but the southbound carriageway will remain closed until the lorry has been recovered and the carriageway cleared. Motorists have been asked to avoid the area.
