The disused vehicle workshop could become an animal cremation facility

A garage in Waterworks Valley could be turned into a facility to cremate dead pets and horses.

Animal cremation company Willow Tree Limited wants to convert a disused vehicle workshop on land owned by Jersey Water just south of the reservoir in St Lawrence.

Its planning application said no structural works were needed on the historic building at Le Chemin Des Moulins and the work involved installing furnaces and chimneys.

The application said a grade four listed building next to the depot would "not be altered by the proposals" and the retained workshop building would "maintain the visual balance and hierarchy of the site".

The firm said: "The proposed change of use of the workshop will provide a sensitive enhancement to the building and is considered appropriate to the setting and maintains the building hierarchy of the industrial site."
