A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving after a girl, aged four, was knocked over by an electric scooter.

She was struck as it mounted a kerb on Talbot Street, in Stockton, Teesside, at 17:20 BST on Friday.

Having banged her head, she was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.

Cleveland Police said two boys fled, but a 14-year-old was later arrested and he is also suspected of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving without a licence or insurance.

Officers are trying to trace the pillion passenger and the scooter.
