A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged over an alleged £100,000 bogus workman scam in Clackmannanshire.

Police Scotland received a report on Monday that a 79-year-old man was the victim of a potential fraud.

The suspect was arrested in a village in the county the following day and is expected to appear at court at a later date.

Ch Insp Garry Smith said: "We are asking residents, particularly older members of our community, to remain vigilant against bogus workmen offering gardening work, building or roofing repairs."

He added: "These individuals often prey on trust and vulnerability, using deception to gain access to properties or persuade victims to hand over large amounts of money for unnecessary or substandard work."
