Water supplies return after main pipe burst fixed

Water has been restored to hundreds of households after they were cut off due to a water main burst.

South West Water thanked customers in Modbury, south Devon, for their patience after the burst at about 11:00 BST on Thursday. Modbury Primary and Pre-school, which have about 200 pupils, were closed as a result.

The firm said its team had worked through the night and had restored supplies in the area.

Anyone with discoloured water should run their kitchen tap for up to an hour to help it clear, it added. While the "natural sediments" were not harmful, "we fully understand that you may not want to drink the water due to the discolouration", the firm said.
