Installations will be in locations across Guernsey to highlight homelessness

Stories about homelessness will be the focus of a pop-up campaign.

At Home In Guernsey said it had created six installations across the island including a sofa in Market Square, sleeping bags in the doorways of Lloyds branches and tents outside Waitrose supermarkets as part of World Homeless Day on Saturday.

It said the temporary installations would be in place over the weekend to highlight stories of homelessness in Guernsey and show what support is available.

Charlie Cox, chief executive officer of At Home In Guernsey, said World Homeless Day was an important moment to "pause, reflect and talk honestly" about the topic.

The charity said each of the installations would include a real story of someone from Guernsey who had experienced homelessness.

"By challenging misconceptions and starting more compassionate conversations, we can help build a community where everyone has the chance to feel safe, supported and at home," Cox said.

At Home In Guernsey said it had supported 122 people so far in 2026.

It added it also helped coordinate the role of other charities and support services alongside working with the island's housing committee to develop a homelessness strategy for Guernsey.
