Trainees sought to work in filming of Bergerac

A television production company has launched a new paid trainee scheme.

The creators of Bergerac have offered 10 paid placements for residents aged 18 and over, giving successful applicants the chance to work alongside the cast and crew during filming in September.

A spokesperson from Westward Studios said the six-day programme was designed to help aspiring film and television workers gain experience across a range of departments, including production, camera and costume.

Applications for the trainee scheme are set to close on 14 August.

The producers asked trainees to select their preferred departments when applying and said they hoped the successful applicants could work in at least one of their chosen areas.

Successful applicants would be required to attend all six training days between 13 and 19 September, they added.

A spokesperson from Westward Studios said the trainee scheme had already helped introduce local people to careers in television production and had offered behind-the-scenes experience on one of the island's biggest screen productions.
