BBCThe Bailiff of Guernsey has announced his retirement six years after he was sworn into the role.
Richard McMahon, Guernsey's 90th bailiff, began the role during the Covid-19 pandemic - at the time describing it as "beyond my dreams almost".
McMahon said he would retire from the post - in which he oversees court proceedings, acts as a judge in the Royal Court and Court of Appeal, represents Guernsey at civic and judicial events and helps govern the island - on August 31.
His request to retire was submitted to the Lieutenant Governor and had been approved by His Majesty King Charles III, his office said.
