'Urgent' hunt for suspect in murder investigation

Police are conducting an "urgent" search for a suspect as part of a murder investigation after a man in his 30s was shot and killed.

Wiltshire Police said officers were called to a traveller site at Calcutt near Cricklade on Sunday morning at about 08:15 BST.

Two people, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 40s, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a firearm. They remain in custody.

Police said it is a "force priority" to find someone believed to have interacted with the victim on Saturday evening and left the county since the incident.

There is a crime scene cordon in place at the site which is likely to stay over the coming days.

Wiltshire Police said it has been continuing its investigation "at pace" and the person "remains outstanding" with urgent work being carried out to locate and arrest him.

Senior Investigating officer Det Ch Insp Phil Walker explained it was a "force priority to locate the outstanding suspect, who is thought to have left the Wiltshire area".

He said his thoughts were with the victim's friends and family and that he understood the incident will have caused concern in the local community.

"Our officers are currently at the scene and the mobile police station is in Cricklade today. If you have any concerns or questions then please don't hesitate to speak with us," he added.
