A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman in a house fire in Knottingley.

Police were called to Yew Tree Walk to reports of people trapped inside a burning property just after 20:00 BST on Sunday.

Officers found the body of a 75-year-old woman inside the house. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect remains in police custody, according to a force spokesperson. They appealed to anyone with information or footage which could assist their investigation to get in touch.
